Ina Garten Halibut

Ingredients
  

  • 4 halibut fillets about 6 ounces each
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 lemon zest and juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Pat halibut fillets dry and season generously with salt and pepper.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  • Sear halibut for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through. Transfer to a plate.
  • Lower the heat, melt butter in the same skillet, and stir in garlic, lemon juice, and zest. Cook for 1 minute.
  • Spoon lemon-butter sauce over halibut, garnish with parsley, and serve immediately.

  • Don’t overcook halibut—it’s a lean fish that’s best served tender and flaky.
  • Fresh lemon juice enhances flavor; avoid bottled juice for this recipe.
  • Add a splash of white wine to the sauce for extra depth.
