Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Cake

Ingredients
  

  • For the Cake:
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour or oat flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ cup natural peanut butter unsweetened, no xylitol
  • ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil or coconut oil
  • 1 egg
  • cup water
  • Optional Frosting:
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Prepare Pan & Oven
  • Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
  • Grease and line a 6-inch round cake pan.
  • Step 2: Mix Dry Ingredients
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda.
  • Step 3: Mix Wet Ingredients
  • In another bowl, beat peanut butter, applesauce, oil, and egg until smooth.
  • Stir in water.
  • Step 4: Make the Batter
  • Add dry ingredients to wet, stirring until just combined (thick but spreadable).
  • Step 5: Bake
  • Pour batter into pan, smooth the top.
  • Bake 25–30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool completely.
  • Step 6: Frost & Serve
  • Mix yogurt and peanut butter until smooth.
  • Spread over cooled cake.
  • Decorate with dog treats if desired.

Notes

Always use plain peanut butter with no xylitol.
Don’t frost while the cake is warm.
Whole wheat or oat flour is easier on dog tummies than white flour.
Substitutions
Flour: Use oat flour for gluten-free.
Applesauce: Swap with mashed banana or pumpkin purée.
Oil: Coconut oil adds aroma dogs love.
Frosting: Skip if your pup is dairy-sensitive, or use mashed banana.
