Total Time 35 minutes mins
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 large yellow onions thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
- 4 hamburger buns toasted
Melt butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add sliced onions and cook slowly for 15–20 minutes until golden brown and caramelized, stirring occasionally.
Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Stir in minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
Pour in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Stir and simmer for 5–7 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
Spoon the beef mixture onto toasted buns, top with a slice of cheese, and let it melt before serving.
Don’t rush the onions — slow cooking builds deep flavor.
Toast the buns to keep them from getting soggy.
For extra richness, add shredded Gruyère before melting.
Substitutions & Variations:
Ground turkey for a lighter option.
