Dairy Queen Gravy Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • cups beef broth low sodium
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon beef bouillon powder optional
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream optional

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat
  • Add flour and whisk constantly for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden
  • Slowly whisk in beef broth a little at a time, whisking to prevent lumps
  • Add milk and continue whisking until smooth
  • Stir in onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper
  • Simmer gently for 5–7 minutes, stirring often, until thickened
  • Season with salt to taste
  • Stir in bouillon powder or heavy cream if using
  • Remove from heat once smooth and pourable

Notes

Keep seasoning light for the classic Dairy Queen flavor
If gravy becomes too thick, whisk in a splash of broth or milk
Best served warm as a dipping gravy for fries or chicken strips
