Blue Salt Trick Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup coarse sea salt or Himalayan pink salt
  • 1 tablespoon dried butterfly pea flowers or butterfly pea powder
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • Lemon or lime juice optional, for color-change effect

Instructions
 

  • Add butterfly pea flowers or powder to hot water and steep for 5–7 minutes until deep blue
  • Strain the liquid if using whole flowers
  • Place salt in a wide bowl and slowly pour in the blue liquid, mixing until evenly coated
  • Spread the damp salt in a thin layer on a parchment-lined tray
  • Air-dry for 24 hours or oven-dry at the lowest temperature for 1–2 hours, stirring occasionally
  • Let cool completely and store in an airtight container

Notes

Use coarse salt for the strongest visual effect
Add blue salt as a finishing salt, not during cooking
A small pinch over citrus will shift the color from blue to purple
Store away from light to preserve color
