- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs or oregano + basil
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella for milder flavor
- 1 ¼ cups buttermilk or 1 cup milk + 1 tbsp vinegar as substitute
- 3 tablespoons melted butter plus extra for brushing
- 2 cloves garlic minced (optional for extra punch)

Preheat the Oven
Heat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or line a loaf pan.
Mix the Dry Ingredients
Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, garlic powder, and herbs.
Add Cheese & Garlic
Stir in shredded cheese and minced garlic.
Combine Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk buttermilk and melted butter.
Form the Dough
Pour wet into dry. Stir gently until just combined (do not overmix).
Bake
Transfer batter to loaf pan, smooth top, brush with melted butter. Bake 35–40 minutes until golden and toothpick comes out clean.
